It is called isobutanol, isobutyl alcohol or 2-methylpropane-1ol. Isobutanol is combined in aromatic hydrocarbon solvents and used as an auxiliary solvent in alkyd-amino, acrylic amino systems and nitrocellulose systems.
Isobutanol is used as a solvent in the paint and varnish industry, as a flavoring agent in the food industry and in the manufacture of ink. Isobutanol is involved in the production of automotive paints and polish, and in the gasoline additive to reduce icing in carburetors. Isobutanol is used as a plasticizer in plastics, rubbers and other dispersions.
