Butyl glycol is a glycol ether type organic solvent.
Butyl glycol is used as a component in surface cleaners to remove oil from metal surfaces, to prevent surface dusting in systems where it is used, as a solvent in printing inks for leather dyes. Butyl glycol is used as an initiator in the production of plasticizers, as an auxiliary chemical, drying retardant, surface regulator in water-based paints, as a solvent solvent in quick-drying lacquers and varnishes.
