Calcium Hypochlorite
Calcium hypochlorite is a potent oxidizing agent that is a chemical compound with the formula Ca (CLO) 2it. As a mixture of lime and calcium chloride, it is marketed as chlorine powder or bleaching powder as water purification and bleaching agent. This compound is relatively stable and has more usable chlorine than hypochlorite (liquid bleaching). It’s a white solid with a slow separation in moist air, and it smells of a strong shape. It is not very soluble in water and is more preferably used in soft to medium-hard waters.
Application
Sanitation
Calcium hypochlorite contains approximately 65 percent chlorine in the liquid bleach compared to the typical 12 percent. The bleach deteriorates over time, loses its strength and effectiveness, and is added to the total dissolved solids in the pool. Calcium Hypochlorite has a neutral pH that can reduce the need for auxiliary treatment chemicals.
Oxidizing agent
Calcium hypochlorite is a potent oxidizing substance at higher temperatures, especially when it releases oxygen and chlorine gases in the presence of water or calcium hypoxychloride. Since strong oxidizing calcium hypochlorite can react strongly in combination with carbon, it is particularly thin-split explosive; Acetylene leads to the creation of explosive chloroacetylene; Organic matter, oil, hydrocarbons; Alcohols explode, methanol, etanole etc. May cause; caused a severe reaction delayed from nitrome; Organic sulphur compounds are prone to fire and sometimes explode; Catalyzed oxygen that acceleration of iron oxide and oxidation in Metal vessels. Calcium hypochlorite creates highly explosive NCl3 in contact with urea.
