Methanol
Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, wood alcohol, wood nappies or wood spirit, is a chemical with CH30H formula (often abbreviated as MEOH). It is the simplest alcohol and is a mild, volatile, colourless, combustible liquid and has a slightly more similar, distinctive scent of etanole (alcoholic). At room temperature, it is a polar liquid and is used as a denaturant for antifreeze, solvent, fuel and ethanol. It is also used to produce biodiesel with transesterification reaction. Methanol is naturally produced in the anaerobic metabolism of many species of bacteria and is found everywhere in the environment. As a result, there is a small amount of methanol.
Steam in the atmosphere. For several days, atmospheric methanol is oxidizized with the help of carbon dioxide and water from sunlight.
Application
Produce other chemicals
The biggest use of methanol to date is to make other chemicals such as the following:
-Approximately 40% of methanol is converted into formaldehyde production used in MDF and plywood industry.
-Methanol is mixed with water and injected into high-performance diesel and petrol engines for increased power and a decrease in air inlet temperatures in a process known as water methanol injection.
-Production of melamine resin for use in the range of tools, internal switches and industrial adhesive ranges.
-Acetic acid production in the textile industry for use in the VAM and cellulose Acetatta.
-methyl methacrylate (PMAA) for use in Laminatles.
-Production of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) as a gas-online optimist
-Produce DME to replenish diesel fuel.
-Production of ethylene and propylene as a raw material of petrochemical companies.
